The Meinl Sonic Energy Wind Gong Kun is traditionally handcrafted in China with authenticity and durability in mind. Made from a special bronze alloy the Wing Gong Kun offers exceptional durability and a dominating resonant tone. Also known as Feng or Sun Gongs the Wing Gongs have an almost flat shape allowing the vibration to spread out extremely wide and provide a long sustain. Kun is one of the eight Chinese trigrams and is said to represent the earth and all things feminine in nature. The Meinl Sonic Energy Wind Gong produces a low-pitched sound which opens up nicely with sizzling overtones when played more powerfully. Each gong includes a beater designed specifically to get the best sound out of the corresponding gong size.
