Head Honcho

A number of smart features are packed into this heads design. A single-ply build with a UV-cured coating results in far better durability than many of its counterparts – as well as increased resistance to dents and stretching. It also allows the head to retain an impressive resonance and overall warmth.

The incorporation of a 10mil overtone control ring adds better balance between the heads attack and its resonance, ultimately leading to more precision and a clearer overall sound. Finally, Level 360 technology with a collar-style build makes for improved connection between the head and the drum shell, allowing for a great tone and more consistent, long-lasting tuning.

Features

  • Level 360 technology – collar design leads to better contact between your drum shell and the head itself. This allows for more consistent, reliable tuning and a better tone.
  • Single Ply (10mil film) paired with UV-cured coating – Increased resistance to stretching and denting. Enhanced durability.
  • 10mil overtone control ring – helps to balance the attack and resonance, ultimately improving the heads clarity and focus.

Brand

Evans

Evans is a leading drum head manufacturer known for innovation, consistency, and sound control. The brand was one of the first to introduce advanced manufacturing techniques that improved tuning stability and durability, helping drummers achieve reliable results across different playing environments.

Evans drum heads are widely used across all styles of drumming, from rock, pop, and metal to jazz, orchestral, and marching applications. Their range includes single-ply and multi-ply heads, hydraulic designs, built-in damping systems, and specialty heads that make it easier to shape tone, reduce unwanted overtones, and maintain focus in both live and studio settings.

The brand is particularly valued by drummers who want predictable tuning and modern sound-shaping options without excessive muffling. For players looking to fine-tune their kit with precision and consistency, Evans drum heads are a trusted and widely used choice.

Category

Drum Heads

Drum heads are a fundamental part of any drum kit, playing a major role in how a drum sounds, feels, and responds. Fitted to the top and bottom of drums, heads affect tone, sustain, attack, volume, and tuning stability more than almost any other component. Changing drum heads can completely transform a kit without changing the drums themselves.

There are many types of drum heads, including single-ply, double-ply, coated, clear, hydraulic, and dampened designs. Single-ply heads tend to sound more open and responsive, while double-ply and dampened heads offer greater control and durability. Coated heads are often chosen for warmer tone and brush work, while clear heads usually provide brighter attack and more projection.

Drum heads are selected based on playing style, genre, and personal preference, whether that is open and resonant for jazz, tight and controlled for rock and pop, or punchy and focused for heavier styles. From practice rooms to studios and live stages, the right drum heads make tuning easier, improve consistency, and help drummers shape their sound with confidence.

Tom Head

A tom head controls how a tom drum responds and sounds when played, shaping its attack, sustain, and overall tone. It determines how open or controlled the drum feels, how easily it tunes, and how well it projects in a mix. Choosing the right tom head helps produce clear pitch, smooth decay, and consistent response across fills and grooves.
