Mapex Drum KitsJustDrums introduce Drum Kits by Mapex Mars Birch 22 5pc Crossover Shell Pack Twilight Sparkle – Manufactured by Mapex – Acoustic Kits Shell Kits are a great option, read more for more images, more details and how to order in the UK The Mapex Mars Birch 22″ 5pc Crossover shell pack is a five-piece set of drum shells that is ideal for drummers who want a powerful rock sound from their playing. This kit is in a one up two down configuration meaning that there is one rack tom and two-floor toms. The rack tom is designed to be attached to a cymbal hardware as there is no mounting on the bass drum. This allows for a more boomy bass drum as the resonance isnt affected by a mount. The single rack tom allows for closer positioning and easier access to your ride cymbal (cymbal not included in the shell pack). As well as the rack tom and two floor toms a 22″ bass drum and 14″ snare drum are included in this pack. All the drums have Remo drumheads for the best quality drum skins. This pack is made of maple providing a warmer sound with less high frequencies than the birch Mars Crossover shells. The low contact bass drum claws allow for the bass drum to produce sound with as little damping as possible. The included SONIClear bearing edges and SONIClear tom suspension are specially designed for Mapex drums and are engineered to provide the optimum sound from your kit. Please note: This shell pack only contains drum shells hardware is sold separately or is available in our bundles.

Acoustic Kits

Acoustic drum kits are at the heart of drumming, delivering real feel, natural response, and the full dynamic range that defines live music. Our massive Acoustic Kits category brings together everything from compact starter kits to professional-level setups, covering a wide range of sizes, shell materials, and configurations to suit every playing style. Whether you’re just starting out, upgrading your current kit, or building a stage-ready setup, acoustic kits offer the depth, power, and expression that electronic alternatives simply can’t replicate. Investing in a quality acoustic kit gives you the foundation to develop technique, shape your own sound, and perform with confidence in any musical setting.

Drums

Drums are the rhythmic backbone of modern music, providing pulse, energy, and structure across countless styles and genres. From acoustic drum kits and marching drums to hand percussion and electronic systems, drums are designed to be played physically and expressively, responding directly to touch, technique, and dynamics.

Acoustic drums are built from shells, heads, and hardware that work together to shape tone, volume, and sustain. Different sizes, materials, and tunings allow drummers to create sounds ranging from deep and powerful to tight and articulate. Electronic drums expand this further by offering volume control, sound variety, and integration with recording and digital music systems.

Drums are used in live performance, recording, education, and practice, making them one of the most versatile instrument families in music. Whether played softly or with force, alone or as part of a full band, drums play a central role in driving rhythm, supporting musicians, and shaping the feel of a piece of music.

Bass Drum

The bass drum is the low-frequency engine of a drum kit, providing the weight and pulse that anchor the rhythm and drive the music forward. Played with a foot pedal, it works closely with the bass line to define groove and timing, with tone shaped by drum size, head choice, tuning, and muffling. From deep, resonant thumps to tight, punchy attack, the bass drum is central to the feel and impact of almost every style of music.

Floor Tom

A floor tom adds depth and movement to a drum kit, providing a low, resonant voice that bridges the gap between toms and bass drum. It supports fills, accents, and groove-based playing by delivering weight and sustain that enhance musical flow. The floor tom helps create dynamic transitions and gives drummers a powerful, expressive tool for shaping energy within a performance.

Shell Pack

A shell pack supplies the main drums of a kit, usually including bass drum, toms, and floor tom, without cymbals or hardware. It defines the fundamental tone and character of the setup while giving drummers the freedom to choose their own heads, cymbals, and hardware. Shell packs are ideal for building a personalised kit or upgrading sound without replacing an entire setup.

Snare Drum

A snare drum provides clarity, backbeat, and definition within a drum kit, acting as the main voice for timing and accents. Its tight head and metal snares create a sharp, responsive sound that cuts through a mix, making it essential for groove, dynamics, and rhythmic punctuation. The snare drum controls feel and expression, allowing drummers to play everything from soft ghost notes to powerful backbeats that drive the music.
