Brand
Sabian is one of the world’s leading cymbal manufacturers, known for combining traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation. Founded in 1981 by Robert Zildjian after the famous split in the Zildjian family, Sabian quickly established itself as a major force in cymbal design. Based in Canada, the brand built its reputation by working closely with drummers and constantly evolving its sound, rather than sticking rigidly to tradition.
Sabian cymbals are known for their versatility, offering everything from bright, cutting models for rock and metal to darker, more complex tones suited to jazz and studio work. Popular ranges include AA, AAX, HH, and HHX, each designed to deliver different tonal characteristics, from modern projection to vintage warmth. Sabian also produces a wide variety of effects cymbals, splash cymbals, chinas, and stacks, allowing drummers to expand their sound and create unique textures.
What Sabian does particularly well is giving drummers choice and control. Their cymbals respond consistently, project clearly, and sit well in a mix, whether live or in the studio. For drummers looking to shape their own sound with a wide palette of tones and modern design, Sabian remains one of the most flexible and forward-thinking cymbal brands available.

Cymbals add accents, timekeeping, colour and dynamics to a drum setup. This category includes hi-hats, rides, crashes, splashes, Chinas and packs, each with different sizes, weights, profiles, alloys, hammering and finishes. Compare stick definition, wash, sustain, response, volume and how the cymbal will blend with the kit and musical style. A cymbal’s sound also depends on mounting and playing technique. Check the exact type and diameter, and remember that cymbal stands, bags and felts may need to be purchased separately.
