Bass Drums

Bass drums, also called kick drums, provide the low-frequency pulse of an acoustic kit. Compare diameter and depth, shell material, hoops, heads, spurs, mountings and compatibility with the intended pedal or kit. A standalone bass drum may be used to expand a kit, replace an existing shell or build a customised setup, while a kit listing may include one as part of a larger configuration. The shell size affects projection and feel, but head choice, tuning, damping and playing technique also shape the final sound.
