The new Roland V-Drums 3 Series delivers a premium drumming experience—without the bulk or complexity of larger kits. The TD-316 combines authentic V-Drums sound and feel in a compact, intuitive design—perfect for home practice, studio sessions, and casual jams. Powered by the next-generation V31 sound module, the TD-316 offers upgraded pads, enhanced cymbal response, Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi connectivity, built-in coaching features, and full Roland Cloud support—everything you need to play, learn, and grow as a drummer. At the heart of the TD-316 lies the V31 sound module, built on the same cutting-edge sound engine and DW-sampled audio technology found in Roland’s flagship V-Drums 7 Series. Enjoy identical tone quality, dynamics, and expression, now available in a more compact and affordable form. Seamlessly connect to Roland Cloud to access and load layered, sample-based instruments—including kicks, snares, toms, cymbals, and complete kits. With Roland Cloud Connect, you can add new sounds, manage libraries, and explore new kits directly from your smartphone.

Customize your playing experience with the V-Drums App for quick sound selection, or dive deep into fine-tuning using the V-Drum Editor on your computer. The V31 module combines hardware reliability with software flexibility, offering seamless expansion via DW Soundworks VST and MIDI integration for professional-level studio consistency.

V31 Module

The V31 sound module is the core component of the V-Drums 3 Series, delivering the power and expression of Roland’s flagship V71 engine in a compact, accessible format. It combines next-generation response and multi-layered drum and cymbal instruments into a streamlined interface, giving drummers a premium sound experience without the bulk or complexity. And with onboard practice tools, Bluetooth audio, Wi-Fi, and smartphone app integration, you can practice smarter, perform with confidence, and grow your sound options with V-Drums Instrument Expansions and Kit Packs on Roland Cloud.

The PD-10H 10-inch tom pad brings flagship-inspired feel and response to compact V-Drums setups. Designed for expressive and dynamic playing, it features a new rubber rim derived from Roland’s high-end pads, plus an offset piezo sensor layout that minimizes hot spots and provides accurate sensing across head and rim zones. Whether you’re working on technique or digging in during a performance, the PD-10H delivers a satisfying, consistent feel that brings you closer to the acoustic experience—but without the in-room volume.

The MDS-Compact 2 is a space-saving drum stand designed for the V-Drums 3 Series, and it also works great with standard setups using two or three cymbals. Ball-clamp mounts for snare and cymbal pads allow for precise, flexible angle adjustments, making it easy to dial in your preferred playing positions. The stand also supports the use of a traditional hi-hat stand with a Roland V-Hi-Hat, and its wider integrated H-frame provides enhanced stability for larger tom pad configurations and more space for positioning double-kick pedal setups.

Drums

Drums are the rhythmic backbone of modern music, providing pulse, energy, and structure across countless styles and genres. From acoustic drum kits and marching drums to hand percussion and electronic systems, drums are designed to be played physically and expressively, responding directly to touch, technique, and dynamics.

Acoustic drums are built from shells, heads, and hardware that work together to shape tone, volume, and sustain. Different sizes, materials, and tunings allow drummers to create sounds ranging from deep and powerful to tight and articulate. Electronic drums expand this further by offering volume control, sound variety, and integration with recording and digital music systems.

Drums are used in live performance, recording, education, and practice, making them one of the most versatile instrument families in music. Whether played softly or with force, alone or as part of a full band, drums play a central role in driving rhythm, supporting musicians, and shaping the feel of a piece of music.
